Lil Durk Concert Gets Unhinged after Shots Fired False Alarm

After Lil Durk canceled all the shows on his Sorry for the Drought Tour due to health concerns, he paid a visit to his hometown of Chicago this past weekend for the WGCI Summer Jam. It marked the sole performance in a period of rest for the 30-year-old. However, during his August 12 set, a report of shots fired inside the building caused the show to end early, and lead to subsequent disarray.

It all began when a woman around 20 years old was stabbed at the venue around 9:30 p.m. local time, according to ABC 7 Chicago. Reporting it to the police herself, she said a man stabbed her while she engaged in an argument with a group of three women. Soon after, United Center officials would receive a report that a shooting in the arena occurred. However, police would later report that this was false and that no shots were fired. Still, they decided to end WGCI Summer Jam early, during Durk’s performance, and the show was evacuated.

“We are working closely with authorities to investigate all incidents from last evening at the WGCI Summer Jam show,” the venue said in a statement obtained by ABC 7. “It became apparent for all involved that ending the show early was in everyone’s best interest as the safety of our guests and employees is a priority. We are thankful that initial incident reports were false and that guests exited the facility safely.”

As attendees headed for the exits to evacuate, though, many began looting the concessions and merchandise stands. Later that night, multiple videos hit the internet showing fans rounding up shirts at the merch booths hastily. Watch the clip below.

After catching wind of this the next day, Durk uploaded an Instagram story addressing the show and its aftermath, seemingly not too upset about the outcome.

“Don’t believe the hype we bigger (than big) thank you Chicago,” Durk wrote. “(Until) next time and who all the stole the merchandise tag me so I can repost y’all crazy ass.”
