Lucinda Williams has announced a string of North American tour dates for 2016, beginning on March 4 in Los Angeles. The tour will follow the release of Williams’s forthcoming album, The Ghosts of Highway 20, which will be out on February 5. Williams will hit 16 cities on the tour, including a five-night stint at New York City’s City Winery from March 13-18.
The Ghosts of Highway 20—Williams’s 12th studio album—will be a unique direction for the country-Americana artist. The record includes 14 songs that center around cities along Highway 20, a road that runs from Georgia to Texas. The tracks build off of Williams’s different experiences with the cities, leading to one of the Grammy winner’s most personal records to date.
The new release will also feature Williams’s take on Bruce Springsteen’s “Factory” and “House of Earth,” a song that features unearthed Woody Guthrie lyrics. Moreover, The Ghosts of Highway 20 will showcase some of Williams’s more unique song arrangements, brought to life with the help of guitarists Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz.
