Metallica is one of the biggest bands in metal history. They have also had more than four decades to build a massive and loyal following. So, it’s not hard to see how they broke attendance records with their most recent Denver concerts. However, the legendary band had a little help drawing a crowd. Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills opened for them on Friday. Sunday’s show featured current Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo’s former band, Suicidal Tendencies, and Pantera, which features two original members.

Metallica Fans Save Lives with Record-Setting Blood Drive
Metallica’s charity organization, the All Within My Hands Foundation, teamed up with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive in Denver ahead of their concerts there. According to KDVR, the event took place on June 23 and 24 a Empower Field. The band held blood drives in several cities while on the United States leg of their tour. However, Denver had the biggest turnout.
According to a press release, it was the biggest blood drive in the history of the Denver Red Cross. Metallica’s fans donated 240 units of lifesaving blood during the two-day drive. The best part is that not all those who donated were Denver locals. In fact, some traveled hundreds of miles or more to give blood.
According to the news report, one fan flew from Oregon because he wanted to get in on the rewards offered for donating blood. Another fan followed the band throughout the United States on the M72 tour, but waited until she arrived in Denver to donate blood.
Those who rolled up their sleeves in Denver received a limited-edition Metallica X Red Cross t-shirt and a guitar pick. Additionally, they were allowed to hang out and watch the stage being built for the band’s final shows of the North American leg of their tour.
