On Monday (June 5), both Bibi and his management agency, Prime Culture, made statements sharing that he will be pausing appearances for the time being.

“While [Michael] is in treatment, he will be unavailable for any shows for the foreseeable future,” his agency stated on Instagram. One of those shows includes Glastonbury Festival, which Bibi intended to perform at in June.

Despite the news, Bibi has been present on social media. “I’m strong & I won’t let this beat me,” he shared in his most recent Instagram post. “I will be back stronger for you all. Love Bibi.”

Bibi added that “unfortunately it’s moving fast & l to have to stay in hospital starting treatment immediately. Typing this message doesn’t quite seem real & I’m sorry for the bad news.”

The diagnosis comes as a shock to the underground European dance music and club scene. Bibi’s notoriety is due to his unique style of house music, world tours, and current concert residency with Ibiza’s DC10 club.

The DJ’s career started as a fourteen-year-old with a passion for music and a simple set of turntables. Though, it quickly grew into a healthy obsession, which eventually placed him in some of the most prominent nightclubs in London. From then on, his career launched, and it comes as no surprise given that Bibi says, “I eat, breath, sleep, and shit this music.”

Bibi fully cemented himself as a world-renowned techno artist when he founded the record label, Solid Grooves, in 2015. The label represents artists such as “ANOTR,” “BASSEL DARWISH,” and “BLACKCHILD.” Subsequently, Bibi released his hit single “Hidden Tree” in 2018 and was later deemed the best Tech House DJ in the 2019 DJ Awards.
