This year, Lainey Wilson is defending her title as 2023 CMA Entertainer of the Year against four male country stars. Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, and Morgan Wallen are all up for the award. Lambert herself has been nominated six times for the prestigious country music award. So, who does she support for the 2024 Entertainer of the Year?

“Gosh, you know, I have to say Morgan [Wallen], because he is out there slaying,” she told Taste of Country recently. “You play for that many people in a weekend … like that is a huge deal.”

Morgan Wallen has been known to break attendance records at various venues while on his One Night At a Time Tour. Back in July, he set the record for the largest U.K. country music concert attendance, playing to a crowd of 50,000 people at Hyde Park.

Miranda Lambert continued, “I respect him as an artist. He is really authentic to who he is. He’s playing for stadiums full of people, for multiple nights. That’s entertainment, you know?”

Lambert, meanwhile, isn’t among the nominees for this year’s CMA Awards, but that’s because she hasn’t released an album yet. That’s all going to change at next year’s CMA Awards, as her forthcoming album, Postcards from Texas, is dropping on September 13.

She’s previously released four singles from the album—”Wranglers,” “Damnit Randy,” “Alimony,” and “No Man’s Land.” She debuted “Wranglers” at the Stagecoach Festival in California, then played it again at the ACM Awards to a standing ovation.

Most recently, she performed “Wranglers” on The Tonight Show. The single has been the biggest streaming debut of her career, and fans are chomping at the bit in anticipation for the new album. According to Lambert, the song came from a “woman-to-woman” conversation between herself and songwriter Audra Mae.

“’Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back,” Lambert said in a press release when the song dropped. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song because we have all had a time in our lives where we needed to find our strength and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us.”
