Morrissey Postpones Concerts After Being Hospitalized Due to “Severe Sinusitis Attack”

Spending several decades in the music industry, Morrissey knew perfectly what it took to become a top name on stage. And year after year, he continued to produce hit albums like Southpaw Grammar and You Are the Quarry. While 65 years old, Morrissey had no interest in slowing down just yet, but currently traveling North America, the singer needed to cancel two concerts after he was hospitalized due to a “severe sinusitis attack.”

Already kicking off May, Morrissey planned to perform at the Civic Theatre on May 1st. He also scheduled a concert for May 3rd in Rancho Mirage, California. But with the singer taken to the hospital, both concerts ended up canceled. According to a statement, “Following the show at The Fox in Bakersfield, Morrissey contracted a severe sinusitis attack and was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego.”

While not the best news for fans who purchased tickets to one of the two shows, the statement added that Morrissey’s tour would continue on May 5th his concert at the Tucson Centennial Hall in Arizona. He also planned to make up the two canceled shows. The statement continued, “Missed shows at Rancho Mirage and San Diego are not cancelled and now have new dates. Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours.”

Morrissey Continues To Fight Capitol Records

Looking at the rest of Morrissey’s schedule, he looked forward to traveling to Dublin, Ireland in the coming weeks for a concert on May 31st. He then will prepare for two concerts at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on June 4th and 5th. Taking his love for music all over the world, the hitmaker also looked to head to Europe, offering shows in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, and Italy.

Outside of Morrissey’s rigorous tour schedule, he also continued his ongoing fight with Capitol Records over his newest album Bonfire of Teenagers. With the label not willing to let go of the album unless the singer paid for it, Morrissey insisted, “This album was recorded in January 2021 and Capitol signed it and didn’t release it, but they’re now prepared to give it back to me for a certain price.”

With Morrissey at odds with Capitol Records for years, he declared, “It’s been quite traumatic and quite sad because when you record something, you want it to be available immediately and it was very much of the time. For me, it was a very personal thing and the fact that it hasn’t been released has been torture.”

Thankfully, just last April, Morrissey announced he had regained the rights to his album which featured collaborations with Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Chad Smith, and numerous others.
