Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx Pens Heartfelt Tribute to Aerosmith: “Thank You for Everything”

While part of bands like Sister and London, Nikki Sixx will always be remembered for his time with Mötley Crüe. Besides being the co-founder of the group, Sixx is also the only member of the band to stay throughout its entire history. And that comes on top of the musician working with legends like Steve Jones, Meat Loak, The Last Vegas, and Alice Cooper. Spending nearly 50 years in the entertainment industry, Sixx recently took a moment to pay tribute to Aerosmith after the band announced their retirement.

With fans knowing of the larynx injury Steven Tyler suffered back in September 2023, the singer consciously focused on his recovery. He hoped to return to the stage but that day never came as they announced the end of Aerosmith. Gaining a great deal of praise from fans and fellow stars, Sixx recently took a moment to honor Aerosmith and reveal how much they impacted him throughout his younger years.

Sharing a post on Facebook, Sixx wrote, “In 1973, a fifteen-year-old kid named Frank Feranna walked into a record store alone and emerged with the first Aerosmith album in hand. I would carry that album with me everywhere, including to friends’ houses, confessing to them that this was the future of rock ‘n’ roll. As the years rolled on, my opinion never changed. Lyrically, musically, rhythmically, and especially with those monster songs, Aerosmith was unparalleled.”

Nikki Sixx Reveals Where His Career Started

While honoring the members of Aerosmith, Sixx took a moment to focus on Tyler, adding, “Steven Tyler, to me, has always been the ultimate singer, lyricist, and showman, but personally, he’s a man who helped me at the beginning of my sobriety. I’ve been lucky to become a peer, a friend, and always a fan of this great American rock ‘n’ roll band. Thank you, Aerosmith, for everything.”

Back in May, Sixx discussed the impact that Aersomith had on his life when he talked to KSHE 95 radio station. When asked when he decided to pursue a career in music, Sixx insisted, “It was hands down Aerosmith. There’s no other band that even comes close to what touched my heart as a 14-year-old. And those first five albums, I don’t think anybody can touch ’em, in my opinion. They’re like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath — those first five Aerosmith albums. I mean, I know every lyric — I know that so inside out that I almost like fall under ‘superfan’ [when it comes to] that stuff. And they’re great guys.”
