Indie folk band Mumford & Sons‘ long-awaited fifth studio album may be on the horizon. The award-winning outfit debuted on the social media platform TikTok this week and is dropping hints about new music ahead.

In a video shared to their TikTok account on Wednesday (October 4), frontman Marcus Mumford performs a snippet of an unreleased song. Backed by his own acoustic guitar playing, Mumford poetically relays a plea for intimacy.

If Mumford & Sons are readying a new record, the project would be their first full-length release since their No. 1 album, Delta, arrived in 2018. The band is now comprised of Mumford, Ted Dwane, and Ben Lovett, following the departure of guitarist Winston Marshall in 2021.

In September 2021, Marcus Mumford shared his debut solo album Self-Titled, which features guest appearances from Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, among others. The project has been well-received by fans who are anxiously awaiting news about the future of Mumford & Sons.
During a November 2022 interview on NBC’s Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, Mumford confirmed that the group was in the midst of creating a new batch of songs.
“The band isn’t broken up,” Mumford explained to Geist. “The next thing really is to get in the room with the boys in the band and start playing each other the songs we’ve written.”
