Nashville Fans Mourn for Liam Payne After Tragic Death, Set Up Memorial in Centennial Park

One Direction fans all over the world are mourning after the tragic death of Liam Payne. The former member of the boy band died on October 16 after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina. Since then, fans and the entertainment industry have poured their love and grief for Payne and his family through memorials, social media posts, and vigils.

Fans in Nashville have set up a memorial in Centennial Park near the Parthenon and held a vigil there. There were candles, posters, photos of Liam Payne, and cards placed around a tree in the park, according to a report from WZTV out of Nashville. The outlet spoke with Mattie Cox, a One Direction fan who attended the recent vigil.

“Losing Liam made me have to grieve that a little bit because I know now that they’re never gonna have a reunion and I’m never gonna be able to take my daughter to see their show,” they said. Photos of the tribute can be seen via WZTV.

Tributes Pour in Following Liam Payne’s Death, Including from Former Bandmates

Liam Payne’s former bandmates broke their stunned silence recently following the star’s death. They made a joint statement on social media, with Niall Horan and Zayn Malik also making individual statements and sharing heartbreaking memories.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” Horan, Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles wrote on Instagram. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and mourn the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”

The post continued, “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.”

Horan and Malik each shared old photos of themselves with Liam Payne. Horan wrote, “All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in a lifetime.”

Meanwhile, Malik posted, “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives. I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life.”
