New Country and Americana Albums for September 20, 2024, New Music from Chase Rice, Bob Dylan, & More

We’ve come to the end of yet another long workweek and have received a stack of new country and Americana albums as a reward. At the same time, this is the final New Music Friday of summer. The first day of fall is this Sunday (September 22) and temps are already starting to dip across the nation. However, this week’s stack of new records is still piping hot.

Today brought new releases from some big names like Chase Rice and Molly Tuttle. Then, there’s a spectacular new collection from Jerry Douglas and a vintage live collaboration between Bob Dylan and The Band. Additionally, “The Yodeling Walmart Kid” Mason Ramsey is all grown up and has released a silky smooth new album.

Standout Albums

Today’s collection of new country and Americana albums includes several stellar releases. However, a pair of them stand out above the rest. Rice’s independently-produced outing marks a sonic shift in his catalog. Additionally, the debut from Florida native Charly Reynolds is one that country fans don’t want to overlook.

Chase Rice gained early acclaim as a contestant on Survivor before co-writing Florida Georgia Line’s massive hit “Cruise.” He tapped into Florida Georgia Line’s sound for several albums. Then, he began to turn over a new musical leaf with his 2023 outing I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell. Then, he left his longtime label home and chose to independently create his most recent album, Go Down Singin’.

The most “country” album of his career, Go Down Singin’ shows what Rice does when he’s at the creative helm. Those who discounted him in the past as a pop singer with twang will be pleasantly surprised by this release.

Standout Tracks: “Oh Tennessee” “Go Down Singin’” “That Word Don’t Work No More”

Charly Reynolds’ debut album Off the Record is a breath of fresh air. Fans of current stars like Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert will instantly fall in love with this album. Sonically, Reynolds walks the line between ‘90s country and the second wave of neotraditional country that’s making waves currently. The tracklist shifts seamlessly between high-energy bangers and heartbroken ballads with no dip in quality in between.

More than an artist with a great voice and an ear for rock-solid country arrangements, Reynolds proved herself as a songwriter on her debut outing. She co-penned 11 of the 12 tracks on the album.

Standout Tracks: “Visiting Hours” “Off the Record” “Blame It on My Boots”
