Noel Gallagher’s Response to Oasis Reunion Has Fans in an Uproar

During the set with his band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, a fan asked when there would be an Oasis reunion. While Oasis was on the rocks for much of its whirlwind career, Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher famously broke up the band before a set in 2009. They haven’t spoken much since, despite Liam’s efforts to get the band back together. Efforts that include diligently waiting for his older brother to apologize.

In response to the fan query, per a report from Music News, Noel responded, “When are we going to see you? In 2025 or 2026? The answer is neither.”

The crowd erupted into boos and jeers, but Noel wasn’t deterred. He replied, “I’ll take the fact that you’re booing as a compliment!”

Still, after some conversing with the crowd, Noel used his fanbase to his advantage. He addressed the crowd, saying, “Right, we’re all Oasis fans, right? Buckle up.” He and his band then performed “Going Nowhere,” an Oasis B-Side from 1997. The crowd was delighted, proving that Oasis still has staying power.

Liam Gallagher Still Holds Out Hope That His Brother Noel Will Come to His Solo Shows Celebrating Oasis Album

Liam Gallagher apparently hasn’t given up on his older brother, despite their notorious (at least) 15-year feud. According to Liam’s social media, he still saves Noel a seat at his solo shows. Liam was recently on his Definitely Maybe Tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Oasis album, and he shared on Twitter that he hopes Noel will show up.

One fan asked on Twitter, “Is it true you save a seat for Noel for every gig?” Liam replied, “Yes you never know.”

Liam is not above an Oasis reunion, clearly, as he allegedly offered his brother a spot on the Definitely Maybe Tour before it kicked off. Instead of asking him directly, though, he had his people call Noel’s people. The answer, of course, was “no.”

Liam has said in the past that the responsibility for getting the band back together rests firmly on Noel’s shoulders. “[Noel is] the one who split the band up, so he’ll be doing the calling,” Liam has said, “and if there is no calling we won’t be getting back together.” Despite his claims that he wants to reunite with his brother, Liam Gallagher sure does go about it in interesting ways.
