While often compared to singers like Garth Brooks, John Michael Montgomery carved his own path in country music. Recording No. 1 hits like “I Swear” and “If You’ve Got Love”, the singer fashioned a career that lasted over three decades. Although his last album, Time Flies, hit shelves in 2008, Montgomery continued to travel the country, sharing his love for country music with fans. And, now, with Montgomery looking to perform one last time, he believed there was no better place than Rupp Arena.

Kicking off his final year on the road, Montgomery climbed on his bus for The Road To Home farewell tour. Shining a light on his legacy within the genre, the singer recently revealed that his last performance will take place on December 12th at Rupp Arena in Kentucky. With Montgomery born and raised in Kentucky, he said, “I stepped on a tour bus for the first time in 1992 and haven’t looked back since, but now it’s time to bring it all back home for my last concert, and I can’t think of a better place than Rupp Arena.”
John Michael Montgomery Making Final Show A Family Affair
For those looking to snag tickets to the concert, presale tickets will go live on Wednesday, July 30th, at 10:00 a.m. Other fans will have to wait until August 1st for the general sale that will kick off at the same time.
Besides the concert celebrating Montgomery, it will feature more than the country singer. “I wanted to celebrate this occasion with my family, so I invited some of them to perform with me. We are going to have a lot of fun and end this ride in a big way.”
Outside of the recording studio, it appeared that Montgomery’s impact on country music extended to his family. Looking at his family tree, the singer’s son, Walker Montgomery, followed in his footsteps. Montgomery was also the father-in-law of country singer Travis Denning. It went deeper than that, as he was the uncle of Dillon Carmichael. And for most, they know his brother, Eddie Montgomery, as the singer of Montgomery Gentry.
With country music a family affair in the Montgomery household, the singer looked forward to the celebration. “It’s time to bring it all back home for the last show.”
