‘Saturday Night Live’ Announces Return with Ice Spice and Bad Bunny as Musical Guests

For the first time since mid-April, NBC’s Saturday Night Live will start airing live episodes once again. Thanks to the recent settlement of Hollywood’s writers’ strike, SNL will officially return to television on October 14, marking the beginning of its 49th season.

To accompany the announcement, made on Wednesday (October 4), SNL also used their patented sticky note method to reveal the celebrity hosts for the next two episodes, as well as the artists that will perform as musical guests.

For the season debut on Friday (October 140, hosted by former longtime SNL cast member Pete Davidson, Ice Spice will make her first appearance as a musical guest. Then, on the October 21 episode, Bad Bunny will serve as both the celebrity host and musical guest, which will mark his third time on the show and second time performing.

Before the strike commenced in early May, Davidson was slated to be the celebrity host for the May 6 episode of SNL, which was also set to feature Lil Uzi Vert as the musical guest. In their most recent live episode, which aired on April 15, Karol G served as the performer for the show, while actor Ana de Armas was the host.

So far in 2023, Ice Spice has had a massive year, thanks to releases such as her Like..? EP and its subsequent deluxe, as well as collaborations with Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and PinkPantheress. As for Bad Bunny, he has only put out two singles thus far, with the most recent one coming in the form of “Un Preview” last week.

Though he does not plan on putting out any more music this year, Bad Bunny has been able to collaborate with the likes of Travis Scott and The Weeknd recently, and will also make an appearance on Drake’s forthcoming album For All The Dogs, set to release this Friday (October 6).
