See Blake Shelton Take Over College GameDay as Guest Picker for Oklahoma Sooners vs. Tennessee Volunteers Game

Before becoming a top name in country music, Blake Shelton grew up in Ada, Oklahoma with a love for music. Learning to play the guitar thanks to his uncle, the singer eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee while still a teenager. Wanting to find his way to the stage, Shelton went on to release 12 studio albums and helm numerous tours. And that is on top of marrying Gwen Stefani and coaching on The Voice. But on Saturday, the singer played a different role with College GameDay welcoming him as the guest picker for the day.

Although College GameDay offered fans an in-depth look into the weekend matchups, the show loved to bring in local celebrities to give their take on the games. Throughout the day, fans will watch key matchups like USC versus Michigan, Utah versus Oklahoma St., and Tennessee versus Oklahoma. While most celebrities pick the home team, which would be Oklahoma, Shelton is somewhat of a mystery given he has lived in both Oklahoma and Tennessee. There are also two Oklahoma teams on the board.

After teasing fans about his decision, Shelton eventually revealed his picks that had Michigan beating USC, Boston College over Michigan State, Louisville outplaying Georgia Tech, Kansas State dominating BYU, Colorado winning against Baylor, Arkansas upsetting Auburn, Rutgers falling to Virginia Tech, TCU defeating SMU, and Oklahoma edging out Utah. As for the big matchup, Shelton went with Oklahoma making history against Tennessee.

Blake Shelton Struggles To Pick A Favorite Team

While giving his suggestions for the day, Shelton discussed his love for both Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. When speaking with cohost Pat McAfee, he explained, “I don’t know if it’s legal to be both or not, but I always have been. I always pull for all three of the teams— Tulsa too. Of course, everybody said, ‘You gotta do it. I said yeah, but I don’t know s–t about all these teams he’s gonna ask me about.”

Thrilled about being part of the celebration and getting a taste of the college football atmosphere, Shelton suggested College GameDay might be getting desperate. “You guys are desperate if you need me to come on and make the picks. I’m honored, though. Trust me, I’m honored to do it.”
