Just a few days after sharing news of a fatal accident in Texas involving his tour bus and another vehicle, young Texas country artist Cameran Nelson has disclosed additional details of the tragic event that cost one man his life, and the band much of its gear.

In a July 9 post on his Facebook page, Cameran confirms that the band was on its way to Del Rio, Texas, to open a show for “Running Out of Reasons to Run” singer Rick Trevino. He also reveals that he was behind the wheel of the band’s tour bus when an oncoming car began drifting into his lane. “I started honking, then, as the car came further over, I hit the [brakes] and aimed the bus for the ditch,” he writes. “As the car passed my window I could see that the driver was slumped over and appeared to be asleep.”

The driver struck the bus toward the rear, tossing members of the band out of their bunks. After Cameran was assured that his bandmates were OK, he exited the bus to check on the other driver. “I immediately ran straight to the car to check on the other driver,” he writes, “but it was clear that he had already passed.”
While no accusations are made in the post, nor charges revealed, the singer-songwriter does claim that state troopers found “several weapons, some stolen, a pistol with a suppressor in his lap, ammunition, what appeared to be stolen credit cards, drug paraphernalia and a flask of Crow laying on the ground next to the car.”

As we previously reported, the band lost its trailer in the accident, along with much of the equipment required to perform, including monitors, lighting rigs and drum hardware, as well as band merchandise. That prompted their former tour manager to launch a GoFundMe campaign to replace their losses.
What seems remarkable, though, is that in spite of the circumstances and obvious financial hit, Cameran remains gracious, even asking for fans to remember the family of the deceased driver.
“This whole thing is something we’ve been struggling with since it happened,” he writes. “I’m not sure what this guy was into, but he left a family behind and we can’t contact them. So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We are grateful we can dust ourselves off and continue on.”
