Snoop Dogg Explores New Venture by Becoming Co-Owner of a Soccer Team

While always remembered as one of the most influential rappers to come out of the West Coast hip-hop scene, Snoop Dogg explored numerous ventures outside the studio. Besides starring in several films, he appeared in hit video games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, invested in the cannabis industry, hosted the Olympics, and even launched a children’s program called Doggyland. Not to mention, he even coached on The Voice. Not finished diversifying his portfolio, Snoop Dogg recently announced he became co-owner of the Swansea A.F.C. soccer team.

Although some might not believe Snoop Dogg to be a fan of soccer, he helped start the Snoop Youth Football League in the early 2000s. A fan of a variety of sports, his investment in the Swansea A.F.C. soccer league should come as no surprise, as the rapper insisted, “For many years I’ve been associated with soccer.”

Snoop Dogg Already Leaving His Mark On Swansea City

Releasing a promotional video, celebrating Snoop Dogg’s induction into the soccer program, the rapper added,  “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club, and I look forward to getting to know all my YJBS.”

Outside of Snoop Dogg, Tom Gorringe, the Swansea City chief executive, also shared his excitement about the changes coming to the club. “It is very exciting for us as a football club to formally welcome Snoop Dogg as a co-owner and investor into Swansea City. His enjoyment and love of football is well documented, and he has often spoken of a desire to get more involved in the sport. We are delighted he believes that being part of Swansea City is the right way to realise that ambition.”

Even the ownership group he found himself in happened to be massive Snoop Dogg fans, as they released a statement. “To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile. Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that…”

While exploring his numerous interests, Snoop Dogg never forgot the music that launched his career. Back in May, he released his newest album, Iz It a Crime?, which featured collaborations with Wiz Khalifa and Pharrell Williams.
