Snoop Dogg Is “The Biggest Kid in the Candy Store” After This Compliment From Sting

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are the true definition of that ever-present “Name a more iconic duo” meme. The pair is set to drop Missionary, their first collaborative album since 1993’s Doggstyle, on Dec. 13. The highly-anticipated record includes the track “Another Part of Me,” featuring Sting. Snoop and Sting recently met up on the set of NBC’s The Voice, where the iconic Police frontman acted as a Mega Mentor to the season 26 coach’s artists. The “Gin and Juice” rapper made his admiration for Sting clear—and the 17-time Grammy winner says the feeling is mutual.

Sting Calls Snoop Dogg “The Biggest Star in the World”

“Another Part of Me,” track No. 8 on the upcoming Snoop Dogg-Dr. Dre collab Missionary, is inspired by Police’s 1979 single “Message in a Bottle.” (Yeah, we sang those last four words too.)

During a recent promo for season 26 of The Voice, Sting joked that he wrote the No. 1 hit in 1978 knowing that “one day Snoop would sing it.”

“I was very, very surprised by his interpretation of it and very impressed by it,” said the “Every Breath You Take” singer, 73.

Sting then revealed that Snoop Dogg was the selling point for his guest appearance on The Voice. “I loved Snoop on the Olympics,” he said. “And then this offer came through and I said, ‘Yeah, he’s the biggest star in the world right now, so I’m gonna be with him.”

A beaming Snoop admitted to feeling like “the biggest kid in the candy store right now.”

“And this is just a thrill,” he said. “We love what we did, and I feel like the people gonna love what we did as well.”

Snoop Was “Infatuated” To Meet Sting

When asked what he had learned from Sting, Snoop Dogg didn’t hesitate. “Reinvention,” said the West Coast legend, 53. “Staying authentic, staying original, and him allowing people to use his music. That’s how you stay connected.”

In an interview last month with Bloomberg Live, Snoop likened himself meeting Sting to “a child that’s infatuated with somebody.”

“When you get a chance to meet them and they give you everything that you expect—like, that’s what happens with me all the time,” Snoop said. “I meet people that I’ve always wanted to meet and they’re everything I wanted them to be.”
