Today, August 7, 2025, successful talent manager and ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, Brandon Blackstock, was announced dead. Blackstock, who was Clarkson’s husband from 2013 to 2022, passed away after a more than three-year battle with cancer. A spokesperson divulged the news to People on behalf of his family.
The official statement reads, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

A day before his passing, Kelly Clarkson revealed that Blackstock had been sick. Consequently, she postponed the remainder of her August Las Vegas shows so she could be there for her kids, River and Remington, as they spent time with their father.
In her statement postponing the shows, Clarkson wrote, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and i so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,” per Instagram.
Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Stayed by Blackstock’s Side
In 2020, Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock. Given the celebrity status of the pair, the case made headlines and was a frequent topic in the public eye. After two years, the two settled the case and made the divorce final in 2022.
Despite the divorce, Kelly Clarkson seemingly made sure Brandon Blackstock remained a part of her and her kids’ lives. Regarding his difficult battle with cancer, an undisclosed source told Page Six that Clarkson had stayed by his side and cared for him during the troublesome time.
The source stated, “It’s been exhausting and so sad… Kelly has been working so hard, as well as looking after Brandon. Despite their difficult divorce, he’s still the man she loved and still her kids’ father.”
Kelly Clarkson has always been a stand-up individual, and this reported claim is a testament to just that.
