For most artists, getting the chance to helm their own tour comes after years of hard work and dedication. Not to mention the amount of people it takes to put on a tour. And while there are a slew of problems that could go wrong, every singer loathes having to cancel a show over illness. And although she has traveled the world since the 1960s, Stevie Nicks recently canceled a string of shows after contracting a mysterious illness. Now recovered, Nicks opened up about the illness and how she knew to go to the hospital.

In early July, Nicks looked to travel to Glasgow to perform a concert on the 6th. And just a few days later, the singer hoped to head to Manchester for another show on the 9th. Being part of her Live in Concert Tour, fans received a shock when the icon canceled. Returning to Glasgow on July 24th, Nicks opened up about the illness and promised fans she felt better. “I don’t know what happened. I just got this weird infection, and it just went crazy.” She continued, “I finally just looked at my assistant, it was like two in the morning, and said, ‘I think we need to go to emergency’. She looked at me and I just said, ‘I’m not kidding! I think we need to go to the hospital’.”

Stevie Nicks Canceled Shows Over Leg Injury
Thankfully, there was help nearby as Nicks added, “So our butler, this wonderful man, throws us in his BMW Sedan, and off we sped through the night to a hospital.” With the star making it to the hospital, medical staff were able to treat Nicks and bring her back to full health.
Back when Nicks tried to power through her concerts, her team released a statement about having to cancel the shows. They pointed to a leg injury. “Due to a recent leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure that will need a few days of recovery time, Stevie Nicks’ scheduled performances in Glasgow Saturday 6 July and Manchester Tuesday 9 July have been postponed.”
As for now, Nicks will continue to tour as her time on the road is scheduled to end in September when she travels to Pennsylvania.
