Jeff Buckley, “Hallelujah”
“Hallelujah” (and its many covers) has been played in so many trailers, movies, TV shows, and, most egregiously, in *so many yoga classes*… I will never hear it with fresh ears again. A song that once moved me now seems alternately cloying and dull. “Hall-e-screw-ya”. 5-year moratorium, please.
B-side: I still love this song, and I don’t hear it much anymore, but I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d actually want to sit down and listen to it. But my friend Sandra did a karaoke version once that blew me away.
Bruce Springsteen, “Born To Run”
