Formed in 2012 from the ashes of Southern rock group American Bang, The Cadillac Three have since released six studio albums and nabbed a 2015 ACM Award nomination. On Tuesday (Sept. 17), the country-rock trio announced via social media that they were canceling this week’s shows “due to illness.” A second announcement came Friday (Sept. 20) and it wasn’t good news. Members Jaren Johnston, Neil Mason and Kelby Ray informed fans they are canceling the remainder of their scheduled shows for 2024 as Johnston seeks mental health treatment.

“The Right Thing To Do:” Cadillac Three Will Not Play Live Again This Year
“Friends,” began a statement posted to the official Cadillac Three Instagram page. “We want to be honest with you.”
The statement continued, “Jaren has entered treatment for his mental health and well-being. The last few years have been challenging on a number of levels. The right thing to do right now is to make space to focus on family, health and longevity.”
With that in mind, the “White Lightning” artists are scrapping all remaining 2024 shows. Fans can contact their point of purchase to receive refunds for all headlining shows.

“We love our fans and the community we’ve built together,” the band continued on the next slide. “Canceling concerts is not something we take lightly. We have no doubt we will ride down the road again. Until then, we appreciate your respect and support for Jaren & his family.”
In addition to being the lead singer of The Cadillac Three, Johnston, 43, is also a multi GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer. He has penned nine No. 1 hits for other country artists, including “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” by Tim McGraw and Jake Owen’s “Beachin’.”
Jaren Johnston Has Been Working Through Grief
Although the post didn’t go into details, Jaren Johnston has been mourning the loss of his father. Former Grand Ole Opry drummer Jerry Ray Johnston died in January 2022 at age 65.
In March 2023, The Cadillac Three released their single “This Town is a Ghost,” which Johnston wrote about his father’s death.
“It was three of the hardest hours of my life,” Johnston told label Big Machine of the songwriting process. “Telling that story of pain to a sweet melody was brutal. Let’s just say I cried a lot that day… I hope the song is a little therapy for anyone that has gone through what I did.”
