When musicians sing about hard-up living, addiction, violence, and other taboo subjects, it’s hard to believe they have families. Well, this particularly pertains to the late-great Kris Kristofferson. Kristofferson, who often toiled in the taboo, had a large family who left a profound impact on him prior to his death.

Kristofferson has eight children and three wives, all who remained in his life up until his recent passing. Above the awards, movie appearances, and hit songs, Kristofferson, at his core, was a family man and received a great deal of meaning from doing so. So, without further ado, here is the family that helped Kristofferson through some of his hardest times, and vice-versa.
Kris Kristofferson’s Family of Eight Children
According to public records, all of Kristofferson’s children are ambitious high achievers. Some are lawyers, film producers, musicians, and even wrestlers. Thus, it seems they have left their mark on the world similarly to the way their father did.
Being the sentimental soul he is, Kristofferson took a great deal of pleasure from being a father. After his daughter, Tracy Kristofferson was in a motorcycle accident, he told the New York Times, “My daughters mean everything in the world to me.” The feeling is surely the same for his sons, as Kristofferson has always been a focal piece to all five of his sons, whether it be showing up in the wrestling ring or performing alongside them on stage.
In essence, it seems Kristofferson was at first, a family man, and at second, a musician. The affection Kristofferson held for his kids and their kids comes as no surprise given the warm-heartedness presented in all of his songs. Kristofferson is lived on by his eight children of the same last name—Tracy, Casey, Jody Ray, Johnny Robert, Jesse Turner, Blake Cameron, Kelly Marie, and Kris.
Kris Kristofferson’s Family: His 41-Year-Old Marriage with Lisa Meyers
Even though “wives” isn’t always read in the most positive sense. With Kristofferson, it should be, as he has always been a valuable piece in the lives of Lisa Meyers, Fran Beer, and Rita Coolidge. Though, it was with Lisa Meyers who Kristofferson was with upon his death. They were married for 41 years and Kristofferson stated it was “the best move I ever made,” per People. Needless to say, Kristofferson was a lover of the highest degree.
Following his death, Meyers and the rest of the family released a heartfelt statement on Facebook. In essence, the statement sheds light on his passing and his prolific familial impact. Kristofferson’s family will miss him dearly, and the world will too. Long live one of the best to ever do it.
