At the moment, The Weeknd is on the European leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which recently broke major records during its stop in London last month. During a show this week on the tour, The Weeknd decided to play a currently unreleased song titled “Another One of Me,” which he explained belongs to a different, unnamed artist. But, the reason he decided to play it for the attendees is because it will be the last time he offers a feature verse in his career, he says.

“This next song I’m about to perform is an unreleased record, I haven’t dropped it yet,” he said. “It’s called ‘Another One of Me.’ I just want to say, this is gonna be the last feature I ever do, ever, in my career.”
When posting the video clip of this on his Instagram page Friday (August 11), The Weeknd clarified that his only caveat to this declaration is that he’d feature on a song with Daft Punk if they were to reunite. In 2021, the French electronic duo, who worked with The Weeknd on hit songs like “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming,” split due to the impending inclusion of AI in the music industry.

The Weeknd’s assertion this week about his music career in its late stages aligns with a May interview he did with W Magazine, where he said his stint as The Weeknd could come to an end soon.
“I’m going through a cathartic path right now,” the singer said. “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”
A few days after this, The Weeknd changed his display name on social media to his birth name Abel Tesfaye, seemingly starting his transition away from his famed moniker. So, when he finally ends up putting out his next album, which he said is “around the corner” during an interview with Variety in June, it will surely be fascinating for fans to see what direction he goes in, and if it will be his last LP as using his career-long alias.
