The Toxic Twins, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, recently reunited on stage for the first time in two years. The Aerosmith frontmen performed together at a private benefit concert for Janie’s Fund, Tyler’s charity. The concert took place in San Francisco on April 30.

The singer and guitarist of Aerosmith hadn’t performed together since 2023. In September of that year, Tyler suffered from a severe vocal injury only three sets into the band’s farewell tour. The tour was effectively scrapped, and the band announced that they had no choice but to retire from touring due to Tyler’s ongoing struggles related to the injury.
Tyler somewhat recovered from the injury and performed in February at a Grammy party (again supporting Janie’s Fund). Perry did not join Tyler during that performance, though bassist Tom Hamilton did make it.
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry Still Got It
The performance last Wednesday closed out a star-studded lineup of performances from the likes of Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) and Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes). All of the founding Aerosmith band members, along with Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) and Matt Sorum (formerly of Guns N’ Roses), hit the stage to perform a short but sweet medley of classic Aerosmith songs. A few standout renditions include “Toys In The Attic”, “Sweet Emotion”, and “Walk This Way”.
You can watch a few fan-recorded clips of the performance below:
Robinson and Zander joined Aerosmith during the encore, which included the songs “Train Kept A Rollin’” and a cover of “Come Together” by The Beatles. Tyler also took to Instagram to post a sweet selfie that he and Perry took together.
It’s good to see Tyler begin to slowly return to performing. Many fans believed that his vocal injury would permanently end his career as a singer. However, it looks like Tyler is on the up-and-up. He was recently named as one of many classic rock stars who will perform at Black Sabbath’s final concert in England on July 5.
Could Aerosmith potentially come out of retirement? While that isn’t very likely, it does appear that Tyler is taking care of his voice and using it sparingly. Which, no matter how you look at it, is better than not being able to use his voice at all.
