Watch Kris Kristofferson Prove Naysayers Wrong With “Loving Her Was Easier” on British TV in 1972

For over 60 years, Kris Kristofferson showcased his amazing talents within country music with songs like “For the Good Times” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” Besides releasing over 20 studio albums throughout his time on stage, the singer joined forces with icons like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson to create the group The Highwayman. Outside of the studio, the stinger also landed numerous roles in Hollywood films. With a career featuring music, movies, and even some time in the military, Kristofferson retired from the stage. But thanks to his rich history, performances like “Loving Her Was Easier” continue to gain praise from fans.

Back in 1972, Kristofferson prepared to perform “Loving Her Was Easier” on British Television. Having spent a career in country music, the singer seemed right at home even though he traveled overseas. Although it has been over 50 years since that performance, Kristofferson’s performance is simply timeless. 

Kristofferson has long been lauded as one the greatest songwriters of all time—there’s no denying that. However, some fans over the years have questioned his singing chops. Yet, his performance of “Loving Her Was Easier” had many changing their tune regarding his vocal abilities.

“Always known him to be a great songwriter but thought his singing was really less than. This has changed my mind,” one fan wrote on TikTok. “I believe he was always underrated as a singer,” another fan noted.

Jordan Davis Recalls Spending Time With Kris Kristofferson

Looking at the comment section, fans gushed over Kristofferson’s voice and songwriting abilities. “Always known him to be a great songwriter but thought his singing was really less than. This has changed my mind.” Another comment included, “Best songwriter to ever live.” And one person insisted, “You can close your eyes and see what he’s singing. It’s just amazing.” 

While fans loved the throwback performance, country singer Jordan Davis received the chance to meet the icon thanks to his friend. Speaking with PopCulture, Davis revealed how excited he was about the opportunity. “To get to talk about songs like ‘Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down’ and hear stories… Dude, he’s a Highwayman. He kicked it with Waylon and Willie, so it’s like he truly built the genre that I’m in today.”

Davis continued to recall his time with Kristofferson, explaining, “It was just a lot of thank yous and a lot of me talking about, ‘How did you write this song? How do you come up with words like that?’ It’s truly probably the coolest thing that I’ve been gifted through music, just to get to spend some time with him, and I’ll never forget it.”
