Looking back to his amazing career in music, Neil Young helped solidify his legacy thanks to hit songs like “Heart Of Gold”, “Harvest Moon”, and “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Just a sample of the powerful discography that he produced, it made perfect sense that fans would pay upwards of $1500 to see the singer perform in an intimate setting. Forking over a great deal of money to see Young in person, the singer took the stage at Ontario’s Lakefield College School and decided to give his fans a special performance of “My Boy.” And what made the performance even better was the fact he hadn’t performed the song in over 40 years.

Back in 1985, Young released his 15th studio album with Old Ways. Having dabbled in country music before, the album served as a moment of reflection for Young. Content with the family life and the wonders that came with being a parent, the singer recorded the hit song “My Boy.” Singing about how fast time flew by when raising a child, the song struck a chord with fans. But for Young, he decided to stop covering the hit.
But that changed during his recent show. With fans thrilled to see Young on the stage, many were shocked when he started to perform “My Boy” for the first time in over 42 years. Having paid over $1,000 to be there, it appeared the hefty price might have been worth it. Watch the performance HERE.
Neil Young Taking His Tour International
While most fans weren’t able to spend the money to see Young in person, a video for “My Boy” thankfully made its way online. Already bringing in thousands of views, fans commented on the post, writing, “Thank you for posting, my favourite Neil Young song, Old Ways is one his great albums. This is a hidden gem.” Another person added, “Sublime! Last time Neil had played this poignant song written for his oldest son Zeke was on Feb 10 1983 in Hartford CT as part of the Solo Trans tour. Keep em comin Neil”
Giving fans just a taste of his rich career, Young prepared to head over to Sweden in June with his Love Earth Tour. He will eventually return to America in August to kick off the U.S. leg of the tour. So for those looking to see the icon in person, there are more than a few chances.
