Watch Shane Gillis and Tate McRae Sing Their Hearts Out in ‘The Voice’ Spoof on ‘SNL’

Over the years, The Voice offered aspiring artists the chance to put their voices to the test. Going through blind auditions, knockout rounds, and the playoffs, only a select few performers find their way into the finale. Throughout the seasons, the show crowned winners like Jake Hoot, Cam Anthony, Asher HaVon, and Sofronio Vasquez III. But recently, The Voice found itself on Saturday Night Live when Shane Gillis teamed up with Tate McRae for a special skit poking fun at The Voice

While calling the show “The Sound”, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, Martin Herlihy, and Ego Nwodim played the coaches looking for the next big star. The only problem, they found themselves looking at Gillis, who played an interesting character named Reggie.

In the video, Gillis offered a mesmerizing performance of “Amazing Grace.” Capturing the attention of coaches on “The Sound”, all four coaches turned to see Gillis riding a scooter and sporting an eye-catching haircut. He insisted, “Let the bidding war begin. Who wants me?”

Shane Gillis Gets Some Help From Tate McRae On ‘The Voice’ Skit

The coaches didn’t hesitate as each one of them decided to turn their chairs back around. Gillis fired back at the coaches, declaring, “Hey you can’t do that. You already turn. You can’t bail on me for my looks or my vibe.”

Although offering Gillis another chance, the coaches ended up regretting it when he shared that his greatest influence was Chris Brown. The coaches once again found themselves wanting to get rid of Gillis, who revealed he could walk. While riding a scooter, it appeared he only needed it because he liked it. Marshall insisted, “Dude there is no way in hell that you will ever make it as a singer.”

Proving them all wrong, Gillis moved past the show to end up working with McRae, who was the musical guest for the evening, on “Amazing Grace.” Fans absolutely loved the skit with Gillis and McRae, writing, “This was one of the funniest SNL skits I’ve seen in a long time.” Another person added, “This is the first snl sketch I’ve ever seen that isn’t just exhale-through-my-nose funny but actually really funny. Shane crushed it.”
