With Super Bowl LIX kicking off with a stunning performance of the national anthem from Jon Batiste, the Philadelphia Eagles showcased their dominance. Even before the second quarter ended, the Eagles led by 24 over the Kansas City Chiefs. Playing at the Caesars Superdome, fans of the Eagles and Chiefs packed the arena that was rich with New Orleans culture. But even with both teams wanting to win, the entire arena found common ground when “Take Me Home, Country Roads” started to playing.

As fans watched another round of commercials, Rocket Mortgage decided to turn the lens on the human spirit and the drive that fuels each individual with a dream. And Rocket Mortgage found the perfect song with “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The company ended the commercial with “Everyone deserves their shot at the American Dream.” That’s when the program cut back the coverage of the game. And somewhat surprising, the entire stadium was singing the song.

While only one team will walk away with the Super Bowl champions, the moment appeared to capture a moment of unity. Looking back to the John Denver hit, it all started when Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert took a trip together. Driving through the mountains, the pair found themselves with an idea. Jump forward to the 1970s and Denver released the song as a single.

The moment became a milestone in Denver’s career. In 1998, the Grammy Hall of Fame decided to induct the recording. Even West Virginia, which the song is about, considered it a symbol of the state. And if that wasn’t enough, the Library of Congress added it to the National Recording Registry. To say the least – the song is iconic and was a perfect decision from Rocket Mortgage.

Viewers at home also found the commercial touching, with comments reading, “Rocket Mortgage, your ad had me in tears. I will not forgive this.
