We Asked AI to Write a Duet in the Styles of John Lennon and George Harrison

The Liverpool-born band The Beatles is known as the greatest rock band of all time. Today, though, only two of the Fab Four members are with us. The group’s co-lead singer John Lennon was killed in 1980 and in 2001 guitar player George Harrison passed away.

Sadly, the former Mop Tops will never reunite. That, of course, means Harrison and Lennon will never come together to pen another tune, either. Well, until now. We reached out to ChatGPT for a little help and to see what it thought a song written by the two today would look like.

(Verse 1 – John Lennon)
[Acoustic guitar intro]

John:
Well, George, my friend, let’s sing a song today,
About peace and love, in our own special way,
We’ll harmonize our voices, like in the old days,
And spread a message, in this world of craze.

(Verse 2 – George Harrison)
George:
You’re right, John, it’s time to let it be,
Find the light within, and set our spirits free,
With a touch of mysticism, and a sitar’s sound,
We’ll journey inward, to higher ground.

(Chorus – Both)
Both:
We’re singing for peace, and love that’s so true,
In the spirit of hope, with me and with you,
Side by side, like the old days gone by,
John and George, together, under the sky.

(Verse 3 – John Lennon)
John:
Imagine a world without borders or hate,
Where people unite, and it’s never too late,
To give peace a chance, as we always said,
With love in our hearts, and dreams in our heads.

(Verse 4 – George Harrison)
George:
Within each of us, there’s a garden of light,
Where the soul finds its way, in the darkest of night,
Let’s sing of that journey, through the long and winding road,
With faith as our guide, and a story to be told.

(Chorus – Both)
Both:
We’re singing for peace, and love that’s so true,
In the spirit of hope, with me and with you,
Side by side, like the old days gone by,
John and George, together, under the sky.

(Bridge – Instrumental break with acoustic guitars)

(Verse 5 – John Lennon)
John:
Though time may have passed, our spirits remain,
In the songs we once sang, in the sun and the rain,
Let’s keep shining our light, like a star from above,
Together, forever, in the power of love.

(Verse 6 – George Harrison)
George:
As we travel through life, on this magical ride,
With our voices and music, we’ll stay side by side,
In the hearts of our fans, and in history’s page,
John and George, together, through every age.

(Chorus – Both)
Both:
We’re singing for peace, and love that’s so true,
In the spirit of hope, with me and with you,
Side by side, like the old days gone by,
John and George, together, under the sky.

(Outro – Both)
Both:
So let’s keep on singing, with joy in our hearts,
In the styles we loved, from the very start,
John and George, forever, our voices entwine,
In this timeless duet, for all of time.

Final Thoughts

Both John and George were known for their philosophies on life as much as they were for the melodies they wrote. That’s what makes these two perfect for a duet. While artificial intelligence could never match the real-life intelligence, savvy and downright brilliance Lennon and Harrison showed during their lives, it sure is fun to walk down memory lane in this exercise.
