“We’re Talking About It”: Joe Perry Teases Big Aerosmith News on Heels of Steven Tyler’s Killer Performance at Black Sabbath’s Farewell

On July 5, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne closed out a brilliant, nearly six-decade career in Black Sabbath’s hometown of Birmingham, England. Multiple other acts, including Guns N’ Roses and Metallica, also paid tribute to the British foursome who essentially invented heavy metal. The night even included a surprise appearance from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, who was in fine form following a 2023 vocal cord injury. With all the nostalgia swirling around for rock music of yore, Aerosmith founding guitarist Joe Perry opened up on the possibility of a reunion one day.

Joe Perry Teases Possible Aerosmith Reunion Tour

Last August, Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring after it became clear that frontman Steven Tyler would not recover from a vocal injury sustained in September 2023. The band had previously postponed their farewell tour.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Joe Perry suggested that one final Aerosmith show isn’t entirely out of the question after all.

“I don’t know, man, we’re talking about it,” said the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, 74. “Except for like, anything on the calendar, we’re all alive and well. So we’ll just have to see.”

Adding that he and his bandmates still talk “probably a couple of times a week,” Perry continued, “I know there’s got to be at least another Aerosmith gig and I’m not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one! But we will just have to see. I’ve always played like every show is the last one. I hate to sound like it’s a downer, but I give it up every night.”

“I Have Enough Left In Me”

Gearing up for his summer tour with The Joe Perry Project, the iconic guitarist clearly isn’t ready to hang up. And Joe Perry says he believes Aerosmith lead vocalist Steven Tyler, 77, may feel the same way.

“I think he would,” Perry told Eddie Trunk. “I think it’s just a matter of getting there. We’re up there, man. It’s a lot.”

Speaking for himself, Perry said, “I have enough left in me. I still want to do it. But right now, for this project, I’m going to be taking it out and giving it up. I’m just glad I got these guys to open up enough time to come along. So we will see what happens.”
