Most people know Shania Twain as the pop-country diva who redefined the genre with songs like “Man I Feel Like A Woman” in the 90s. However, a lot of fans might not be familiar with Twain’s songwriting genius, which is displayed in many of her earlier hits. The performer has also written with other artists in mind, which she did with the following songs.
“Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know” by Britney Spears
A track off Britney Spears’ iconic Oops…I Did It Again! album, this is one of Twain’s most notable cuts. Written by Shania, her then-husband Robert “Mutt” Lange, and Keith Scott, the song was one of Spears’ favorites from the album.

She told Billboard, “With the first album, I didn’t get to show my voice off. The songs were great, but they weren’t very challenging. This song is incredible. It’s going to surprise people in the best way.” And that it did, reaching the top ten in countries like Austria and Switzerland. If the queen of pop can get down to it in the studio, you know it’s good.
“From This Moment On” by Shania Twain
Twain scored a No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 with this 1997 tune, but it was originally intended for Céline Dion. In an interview with Us Weekly, the singer shared that she didn’t think the song would do as well as it did. “‘From This Moment On’ is the one I least expected to be so big and so timeless because I really didn’t want to record the song myself. I wrote it because I wanted Céline Dion to sing it,” she admitted. “I was really thinking about it being this pop power ballad, but it worked for me.”
“Sisters”: Unreleased Song by Shania Twain
In an interview with The Talk, Shania Twain spoke on some unreleased collaborations that she was hopeful about. Lizzo and Janelle Monáe are well-known collaborators and friends, having performed Lizzo’s “Juice” together in 2019. After hanging out with them, Twain revealed she got inspired. “I went home and I actually wrote a song for the three of us,” she explained. “It’s called ‘Sisters’ and I think we are all sisters in what we do, and it was a really great new friendship that we started. And so I went home and wrote that song. They don’t know about it yet.” We haven’t gotten to hear this one, but hopefully, R&B-pop goodness is in our future!
