4 of the Best Rock Covers Ever Performed on ‘The Voice’

We’ve seen tons of incredible covers of famous songs on The Voice, but none hit quite like these killer rock music songs. Let’s take a look at four times contestants stunned the coaches with the best rock covers on The Voice!

1. “Lights” by Gene Taylor

Gene Taylor brought out the big guns for this blind audition. Taylor performed a very Steve Perry-esque cover of “Lights” by Journey for his blind audition, and it was quite stunning to hear and see. His stage presence was on another level.

The New Jersey native has a background in theater, and you can sense that musical theater vibe from this performance. However, it isn’t overpowering. Taylor’s vocal ability is what really shined, and we’re not surprised he earned a four-chair turn for this one.

2. “Love Runs Out” by Bryan Olesen

This rendition of “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic has to be one of the best rock covers to ever take place on The Voice! A lot of fans thought Bryan Olesen was going to take home the win in 2024. Even though he didn’t come out on top, there’s something to be said about this blind audition.

Three of the judges turned pretty quickly when Olesen launched into his rendition of the 2013 rock song. Chance The Rapper was the only one not to turn, though he quickly expressed how much he regretted it.

3. “Rainbow In The Dark” by Giuliana Amaral

Metal doesn’t make it to The Voice that often. But when it does, it’s nothing less than entrancing to see and hear. Back in 2023, Giuliana Amaral hit the stage with her electric guitar and kicked off a cover of Dio’s 1983 classic “Rainbow In The Dark”.

The young rocker already had experience as a member of the rock outfit Band, Inc., and that much was certain when she dove straight into her blind audition. We still can’t believe that none of the judges hit their buttons and turned around for her!

4. “She Talks To Angels” by Huntley

Huntley stunned audiences left and right during his tenure on The Voice in 2023. He has one of the most dynamic voices in the history of the show. It’s a little bit country, a little bit rock, with some blues and grunge mixed in. Huntley covered “She Talks To Angels” by The Black Crowes, and this particular cover is a huge fan favorite.

Huntley only got a few notes into his performance before all four judges spun around in their chairs. That blind audition was a good indicator that he was going to win that season, and we’re glad he did.
