With the end of the year approaching, many music lovers jumped on Spotify to see which songs they listened to the most throughout 2024. First launched back in 2015 as the “Year in Music”, the Spotify Wrapped offered fans a great deal of stats about their listening habits. Showing who and what they listened to during the year, Democratic representative Josh Gottheimer decided to show voters how much he loved Bruce Springsteen when he released his stats. The only problem, it seemed that the representative might have altered the stats a little.

Revealing his Spotify Wrapped on Twitter, Gottheimer revealed his support for Springsteen when he wrote, “No surprises here… Fun fact: My first ever concert was at Meadowlands to see The Boss!” Looking at the politician’s list, it included songs like “Thunder Road” and “Glory Days.” And with Gottheimer representing New Jersey, the birthplace of Springsteen, it seemed almost too perfect.

That’s where the internet detectives came in and started to notice some discrepancies when it came to Gottheimer’s list. Looking closer at the picture, some suggested the fonts didn’t match up to what they were seeing on Spotify. With fans claiming someone doctored the image, the politician eventually broke his silence, admitting that he, in fact, changed the image.

Josh Gottheimer Listened To More Than Just Bruce Springsteen
Although still loving Springsteen, Gottheimer suggested he changed the image due to sharing his Spotify with his children. “This would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didn’t share my account with my 12 and 15-year-old kids. While it’s Springsteen all day for me — don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!” He added, “To paraphrase the Boss: I wasn’t here for business baby, I was only here for fun. So just relax. This was a fun holiday tweet. It’s a joke to question my Springsteen creds, just ask my dog named Rosalita!”

While clearing the air, Gottheimer wanted to get back to the serious issues as he concluded, “Let’s get back to what people do care about—lower taxes, lower costs!”
Since everyone is dying to know, I’m actually a real Springsteen fan. The biggest surprise here is I managed to listen to more music than my kids this year. pic.twitter.com/zrxomPFtNy

Wanting to show his supporters the full list, Gottheimer shared another tweet with his full list which included Springsteen, Billy Joel, Drake, Travis Scott, and Taylor Swift. He wrote, “Since everyone is dying to know, I’m actually a real Springsteen fan. The biggest surprise here is I managed to listen to more music than my kids this year.”
