On Monday’s episode of the show, the 22-year-old singer impresses Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend with her cover of Ángela Aguilar’s “La Llorona.” In fact, the four coaches all turned their chairs just seconds after Flores-Wiseman began her performance.
So what should fans know about the singer who’s gearing up to take the competition by storm? Read on for three quick facts about the young talent.
Lucia Flores-Wiseman’s Musical Style Blends Indie, Folk, and Jazz
On Flores-Wiseman’s website, the Mexican-American, Seattle-based singer describes her musical style as a blend of indie, folk, and jazz. With that in mind, Flores-Wiseman’s influences include Brandi Carlile, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones.
Back in 2018, a then-16-year-old Flores-Wiseman was selected to sing with Carlile at a concert put on by the Tahoma Schools Foundation. Since then, she’s performed at numerous gigs, everywhere from the airport to wedding receptions, delighting crowds with her soulful vocals and emotional style.
Lucia Flores-Wiseman Has Released Singles and Covered Tons of Songs
Flores-Wiseman began releasing music in 2018 and has six songs available to stream on Spotify. Her most recent release came in January when she dropped the song “transitions,” which is about her six-year relationship with her boyfriend, Steven Lynch.
On top of her original music, Flores-Wiseman frequently posts covers of songs on her Instagram. She’s covered everything from Peggy Lee’s “Fever” to Selena’s “Como La Flor” to Lola Young’s “Messy.”
All of the Coaches Really Want Lucia Flores-Wiseman
Given her incredible talent, all four star coaches really want Flores-Wiseman on their time. In a sneak peek of The Voice‘s Feb. 24 episode, Ballerini notes that she got “weirdly emotional” during the singer’s performance.
“I was very teary. No notes,” Ballerini said. “I really just want to be along for your ride. I want to be a sounding board for you when you need it. You have a God-given voice.”
Levine was equally impressed, telling Flores-Wiseman, “It’s very rare that someone has it all; the emotion, the precision.”
“This is my 17th season doing the show and I just want to fall madly in love with a singer and their voice that I thought was singular and that I’ve never heard anything like before,” he said. “And here you are.”
Meanwhile, Legend tried to get Flores-Wiseman on his team by mentioning that his wife also hails from the Pacific Northwest.
“Listening to you sing that song, it was like Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse were singing in Spanish, which was such an interesting combination of things,” he praised. “This is why we love music so much, because we get to hear people like you kicking the a** of a song.”
For his part, Bublé delivered much of his pitch in Spanish, before telling Flores-Wiseman, “You are so unique. You are so amazing… Thank you for lifting this whole place up and being so amazing.”
So who will Flores-Wiseman pick? Tune in to The Voice Feb. 24 at 8/7c on NBC.
