Last night, Renzo made a convincing case for The Voice season 27 crown with covers of Lenny Kravitz and Jeff Buckley. The elementary school science teacher from West Philadelphia earned chair turns from everyone but Kelsea Ballerini with his Blind Audition performance of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man.” Choosing John Legend as his coach, Renzo blazed his trail to the season 27 finale, where he is competing against Jadyn Cree, Adam David, Lucia Flores-Wiseman, and Jaelen Johnston. And tonight, he and the “All of Me” crooner teamed up for a soulful performance of a Harry Styles song.

Renzo Takes The Stage With John Legend During ‘The Voice’ Season 27 Finale
John Legend is chasing his second win as a coach on The Voice, while Renzo aims for the cash prize and record deal. During Monday’s (May 20) Part 2 Live Finale episode, the pair joined forces to sing “As It Was” by Harry Styles.

The Voice is Renzo’s second crack at reality TV history. Competing during season 16 of American Idol under the name Dennis Lorenzo, his journey ended at the Top 10. Now, Legend strongly believes that the father of three has a legitimate shot at the championship.

“I think Renzo has really shown himself to be just a formidable artist. He’s a superstar—he’s got such a great energy, such a great voice, and he’s bringing a style of music that nobody else is bringing on this season,” the EGOT winner told ExtraTV. “So I feel like he’s in a special place and he’s given some really special performances, and if he is able to follow that up tonight, I think he could win the show.”

John Legend Is Looking For Some Poetic Justice
A Renzo win on The Voice tonight would mean “perfect symmetry” for his coach, John Legend. His sole coaching victory came during Season 16 with Maelyn Jarmon. Coincidentally, that was also Adam Levine’s last season in the big red chair before a six-year hiatus.
“I feel like because I blocked Adam for Renzo. it only makes sense that I welcome him back with another John Legend victory,” quipped the “In My Mind” singer, 46.
According to Levine’s colleagues (and himself,) the Maroon 5 frontman has been “b—-ing about it ever since” Legend blocked him from snagging Renzo during the Blind Auditions.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t hear Adam going ‘Renzo! He woulda been mine!’” Michael Bublé said. “Literally, he’ll be eating at catering and go, ‘Renzo!!’”
