“Unlikely Couple:” Jelly Roll and Josh Groban Instantly Connected

A diehard fan of American Idol from way back, Jelly Roll is thrilled to offer guidance to contestants as the show’s first-ever “artist-in-residence.” While the “Son of a Sinner” crooner likely anticipated forming a bond with the aspiring singers, he certainly didn’t expect to strike up a bromance with mentor Josh Groban. But he’s not mad about it.

“The Jelly & Josh Show should be a show,” the Grammy nominee told Billboard. “You’re talking about an unlikely couple. You know what I’m saying? We instantly had a bromance. It was really cool.”

While Jelly says he knew who Groban was prior to American Idol (“Who doesn’t?”) he wasn’t sure how they would take to one another. Now, he has his answer.

“There were moments that probably won’t make the air where we just laugh uncontrollably for a few minutes. We would start feeding off each other and doing bad jokes and they kept getting worse and worse.” he said. “He’s a really fun guy.”
