The bluesy track shows off TJ Osborne’s smoky, smooth voice as he tells the tale of a man who was getting along fine on the other side of a breakup. Yet one night, he hears a song that reminds him of his former lover, prompting him to realize that the relationship is over for good.

The second verse finds him at a bar, anxiously looking at his phone waiting for the other party to reach out, with a voice in the back of his head bringing him to the harsh reality that he’s now on his own. Went from feelin’ right/Just the right amount of tipsy/To the wishing you were with me/Yeah, the goodbyes kickin’ in, he croons over a groovy melody.

“Goodbye’s” will be featured on the duo’s forthcoming album. The track was preceded by a trio of other new songs; “Nobody’s Nobody,” “Might As Well Be Me” and “Rollercoaster (Forever And A Day).” The “Stay a Little Longer” singers were recently named Duo of the Year at the 2023 ACM Awards for the fourth time. They released their last album, Skeletons, in 2020.

“As musicians, we’re constantly evolving and pushing ourselves to new heights,” John shares in a press statement. “With our fourth album, we’ve teamed up with a new producer, Mike Elizondo, and embraced his approach to our sound and story. Our expectations were already high and he absolutely shattered them.

“It’s exciting to see where this journey will take us and we can’t wait to share this sound with everyone. Life and art are about growth and taking risks, and we’re ready to take on the challenge.”

John and his wife, fellow singer/songwriter Lucie Silvas, recently welcomed twins Arthur and Maybelle in March 2023.
