The award is given to artists who offer substantial support to the hospital’s mission of finding a cure for childhood cancer. Brothers Osborne’s relationship with St. Jude started in 2014 with a tour of the hospital, in addition to participating in the #ThisShirtSavesLives campaign multiple times and performing in the Country Caries Radiothon, among other efforts.

“What an amazing honor to receive the Angels Among Us Award from St. Jude,” John Osborne said in a statement. “We constantly find inspiration when spending time with the patients and families of St. Jude. Together with other artists and country radio listeners, we can make a difference in helping ensure no family receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing the focus to be on helping their child live. It’s an incredible mission, and we are grateful to be in a place to support such an amazing cause.”

Country Cares is an annual event started by Alabama’s Randy Owen in 1989 in an effort to use the power of country radio to raise money for the hospital. The event has raised more than $800 million in 30 years, according to St. Jude. Owen, Scotty McCreery, Lady A, Darius Rucker, and Florida Georgia Line are among the other artists who’ve been honored with the Angels Among Us Award.

Country Cares for St. Jude Kids takes place Oct. 12-14 on the St. Jude campus in Memphis. Brothers Osborne is set to release their new, self-titled album on September 15. “We’ve always had a lot of mystery intentionally around the things we have done, but with this album, we decided to be all in,” TJ Osborne said in a statement at the time of the album’s announcement. “And doing that reminded me of what it was like when I first started playing music when it was an outlet for my angst or just a way to have fun.”
