The Country Music Association recently wrapped up its 58th annual CMA Awards last Wednesday (Nov. 20.) Chris Stapleton took home his eighth Male Vocalist of the Year trophy, while Morgan Wallen nabbed his first-ever Entertainer of the Year award. Wallen did not attend the ceremony to accept his trophy in person. And he wasn’t the only one who skipped out this year. Country star Chase Rice also decided to forego the CMA Awards in favor of deer hunting—and it looks like that decision paid off.

Chase Rice Shares His Quality Kill on Social Media
Following his 2010 runner-up finish on CBS’ Survivor: Nicaragua, Chase Rice waded into country music waters. In 2012, he helped pioneer the bro-country movement by co-writing Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise,” which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. This past September, Rice released his first independent album, Go Down Singin’.
The “Bad Day To Be a Cold Beer” has more than established himself on the country music scene. However, as Nashville’s biggest names crowded Bridgestone Area Wednesday (Nov. 20) for the 58th Annual CMA Awards, Rice camped out in a deer blind. And judging from a picture he posted of himself and three other camo-clad gentlemen sitting behind a dead deer, that choice was a fruitful one.
“And the CMA award for “biggest buck of the night cause all the other country singers were frolicking around in Nashville” goes to….” Rice, 39, captioned the Nov. 21 post.

Fans flooded the comments section to congratulate Rice on his accomplishment. “Now that’s an award waiting to happen. Congratulations,” one X/Twitter user wrote.

Making “Awesome Memories” With Jack
Despite titling his 2023 record I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell, Chase Rice is openly quite fond of his canine sidekick, Jack. The “Bench Seat” singer even brought Jack along on his whitetail deer hunting excursion. And he posted a hilarious video of a “full conversation” he held with his four-legged friend in the deer blind.

“I wanted to kill something with you, but we will have to go our separate ways,” Rice tells Jack in the video. “It doesn’t change how much I love you.”
As per the caption, Rice shot the aforementioned deer about 20 minutes later.
