Drake Hosts Kentucky Basketball Players’ Practice at His House

This past weekend, the storied college basketball program from the University of Kentucky represented the United States at GLOBL Jam, a pro-am tournament that also saw teams from Germany, Canada, and Africa compete. Playing four games in Toronto, where the tournament was held, Kentucky and their esteemed head coach John Calipari needed places in the city to practice between games. So, longtime Kentucky super-fan Drake came to the rescue.

On July 14 and 15, Kentucky’s social media accounts began posting videos of their team practicing at the basketball court Drake built in his mansion in Toronto. Although the Canadian rapper was in Montreal both of those days for performances part of his 21 Savage-assisted It’s All a Blur Tour, it seems Drake’s housekeepers made the basketball stars feel right at home. Check out the clip below.

Along with practicing at Drake’s home gym, the team was able to have a pool party at the luxurious swimming pool on Drake’s property.

“We’re at Drake’s, relaxing,” Calipari said in a video taken from the pool.

On Sunday (July 16), Kentucky would go on to face Canada in the Gold medal game of the GLOBL Jam tournament, as they would win 89-72. This surely brought a smile to Drake’s face. For years, the emcee has proven time and time again how much of a fan he is of the Kentucky basketball program.

In 2014, Drake popped into the locker room after one of Kentucky’s games to greet Calipari, along with giving the players a motivational speech. Later that year, as the program was preparing to begin its 2014-15 season, Drake participated in their pre-game festivities at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, decked out in all the necessary gear. In fact, his performance in the team warm-ups went viral when he badly missed a shot. Check out videos from these two separate occasions below.

Finally, the following fall, when Drake joined forces with Future for their 2015 collaborative album What a Time To Be Alive, Drake shouted out Kentucky on the song “Scholarships,” certifying his role as the team’s celebrity ambassador.

Mayor comin’ to the house
N***a, please, watch your mouth
I’m the one without a doubt, yeah
And I rock Kentucky blue on these hoes
Drafted, I’m gettin’ choosed by these hoes
