Kacey Musgraves Reveals Her “Catastrophic Bike Wreck” While Traveling to Foreign Country Alone

Releasing Star-Crossed back in 2021, Kacey Musgraves followed that album with her newest work Deeper Well. The new album gained such praise from fans that Musgraves even helmed her own Deeper Well World Tour. Excited to travel the world and share her music with fans, the singer recently discussed wanting to explore Ireland before the production got there. Believing it was a great idea to go ahead alone, Musgraves recounted her story and the series of unfortunate events that followed.

Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Musgraves opened up about traveling to Dublin, Ireland for a special concert. The singer was so excited to travel to the area she decided to go ahead of the production to have a little time for herself. “Ahead of the tour, I was like, ‘I want to go have this kind of Eat, Pray, Love adventure.’ I’ve never traveled to a foreign country alone, so I was like, ‘I’m gonna go ahead of the tour, I’ll just spend a week in Ireland. We kicked off the tour in Dublin, so I said, ‘I want to go explore the Aran Islands and just have this romantic adventure by my single self.’”

Purchasing the ticket herself and planning the mini-vacation, Musgraves landed with a sense of adventure. But it quickly took a turn when she noticed there were no cars. “I step foot on the island. There are no cars there. You have to rent an electric bike. Within 15 minutes of stepping foot on this island, I eat complete sh*t. I have this catastrophic bike wreck. My knee is totally messed up. I’m stupid, it was me. It was my fault… I was trying to multitask and get this beautiful video while I was on a bike. Embarrassingly enough, there is proof of my stupidity.”

Kacey Musgraves Tricked By Tasty Food Stand

Not letting the bike accident get her down, Musgraves continued forward with her adventure until she landed at a small food stand. “I continue on my journey. I find this roadside fish and chips stand. I’m like, ‘This seems like a great idea.’ I don’t know what happened, but within 24 hours later, I was violently ill.” She added, “I was puking on the…I had to make the driver pull over. I was like… it was…I’m sorry. It was (coming out) both ends. It was crazy.”

Although not making the best of memories, Musgraves loved her time in Ireland and the concerts she performed there. Next time, the singer might not travel alone when it comes to international trips.
