After nearly four years, Keith Urban will return with his new album High next month. So far, he has released a handful of songs from the record. Among those preview tracks was “Go Home W U” which features Lainey Wilson. Working with Wilson left a lasting impression on Urban.
Urban co-wrote “Go Home W U” with BRELAND, Sam Sumser, and Sean Small. In a press release, he said, “It started as a late-night drum loop… Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world.”

In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, Urban talked about his forthcoming album. During the conversation, he reflected on recording “Go Home W U” with Wilson and shared his thoughts about her as an artist and as a person.
Keith Urban Shares His Thoughts on Lainey Wilson
“She’s the real deal,” Keith Urban said of Lainey Wilson. “I just want to collab with people that are legit, whether it’s Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, doesn’t matter who it is, just real-deal people,” he added. “Lainey is that for sure.”
Urban went on to say that he has been waiting to work with Wilson for years. “A few years ago I heard her voice, and I just loved her voice and wanted to find something we could do,” he explained. “I actually thought we might write a song at some point,” he added. However, “Go Home W U” had been “sitting around” for a while and he decided that would be the perfect song on which to collaborate with Wilson.
They made some changes to the song before recording it, though. First of all, it wasn’t originally a duet. That was easy enough to change, though. They just swapped verses and came together on the chorus. Wilson and Urban also ended up doing some writing for their duet.
Urban said that Wilson “killed” the second verse. “When I heard her sing it, I loved her voice so much on the track that we wrote a bridge on the song that wasn’t in it originally, just so I could hear more of Lainey,” he revealed.
