Back in May, Lukas Nelson boldly declared to Adele that the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer was “going country whether you like it or not.” And the son of outlaw country legend Willie Nelson enlisted help to make it happen. Along with country-folk luminary Sierra Ferrell and Nashville bluegrass band The Travelin’ McCourys, Nelson added some bluegrass flavor to Adele’s 2011 hit “Someone Like You.” Listeners fell in love. Now, it seems we’re getting an official studio rendition.

Lukas Nelson Teases Adele Cover
Lukas Nelson first teamed up with Sierra Ferrell at DelFest back in May to deliver a flawless cover of “Someone Like You.” On Monday (Sept. 9), the singer-songwriter announced the official version will drop this Friday (Sept. 13.)
“When this rendition came together at @delfest, we thought we would take it to the studio!” Nelson wrote in an Instagram post.
You might not think you need a twangy version of one of Adele’s saddest-ever hits in your life. And you’d be wrong. “It is an award winning rendition,” gushed one Instagram user.
Another fan wrote, “Y’all at Delfest was,” followed by emojis depicting a fire, raised hands and a black heart.
Listen to a quick snippet of the original DelFest performance below. Honestly, we can’t believe it took Lukas Nelson and Sierra Ferrell this long to cover Adele’s work. (Also, we love Sierra’s look.)
See Sierra Help Lukas Honor His Dad
Lukas Nelson’s father needs no introduction. Willie Nelson has been going strong for nearly 70 years now, and is showing no signs of stopping at age 91. But Lukas is a worthy successor. And he had a chance to prove it during this summer’s Outlaw Music Festival, when an unknown illness sidelined his dad for several shows.
During the tour’s stop in Virginia Beach, Lukas Nelson again brought Sierra Ferrell onstage with him. She even joined in for one of Willie’s most recognizable classics, “On the Road Again.” Watch below.
The two are certainly a match made in bluegrass heaven,. Hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ll hear from them together.
