After posting a one million dollar bond, Patrick Xavier Clark, the man charged with the murder of Migos rapper, Takeoff, has been released from jail.
The 33-year-old suspect secured his release on Wednesday (January 4) until his murder trial begins. Clark’s legal team had the amount reduced, arguing in a December 28 hearing that the original bond of two million dollars was “excessive.”

“Neither Patrick nor his family posted the bond in this case,” Clark’s representation, attorney Letitia Quinones, said in a statement shared by CNN. “A concerned citizen and family friend who believes in Patrick’s innocence posted the bond on his behalf.”
Quinones added that Clark “intends to comply fully” with the court’s terms and the he “will appear for proceedings whenever the court requires him to do so.”
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Clark must abide by the conditions of his bail, undergoing house arrest and wearing a GPS monitoring device. He is also barred from having any communication with those involved in the murder, including the rapper’s family and Houston-based music executive J Prince.
Clark was taken into custody by the Houston Police Department on December 1. The news of the arrest was presented at a press conference the next day. Police Chief Troy Finner explained when asked if Takeoff was targeted, that it was “definitely wrong place at the wrong time. No evidence whatsoever to say anything different.”
Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed outside of a Houston, Texas, bowling alley on Nov. 1, 2022. An altercation reportedly broke out and someone opened fire. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene.
Clark was arrested based on cell phone and surveillance video evidence from the scene. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. “We believe Patrick is innocent and at the appropriate time, the evidence will reveal that to be the case,” Quinones added in the statement.
