Noah Kahan and Kacey Musgraves Team Up for Reimagined Version of “She Calls Me Back”

Singer/songwriter Noah Kahan joins forces with Kacey Musgraves for a fresh take on his infectious Stick Season cut “She Calls Me Back.” Released today (October 6), the song gets a lyrical update, offering a feminine perspective to Kahan’s storyline while staying true to the original’s indie folk sound.

“Kacey Musgraves is the coolest person ever,” Kahan shared in a statement. “Not exaggerating when I say that during the Stick Season album process, we would finish a song, and I’d listen back and be like, ‘Can you imagine Kacey on this?’ Having her sing on ‘She Calls Me Back’ is incredible, and being able to have her continue telling the story adds a whole new dimension to the song and what it means.

“I’m so grateful and honored, continually humbled that artists of this level have lent their voice to this album,” he adds. “Kacey is cool as hell, brilliantly talented, and represents everything I love about music. She is a true artist, and I can’t thank her enough for being a part of this song.”

“She Calls Me Back” is the latest in a string of high-caliber collaborations from Kahan in recent weeks. Following the success of his duet version of “Dial Drunk” featuring Post Malone earlier this year, the 26-year-old hitmaker teamed up with Lizzy McAlpine for “Call Your Mom” and joined Zach Bryan for “Sarah’s Place,” a track from the country songsmith’s recent surprise EP, Boys of Faith.

Bryan also recruited Musgraves for “I Remember Everything,” the hit single from his self-titled album, released in August. Fans are currently awaiting details of her sixth studio album, which is rumored to arrive in early 2024. The project would mark her first full-length release since Star-Crossed, which dropped in 2021.

Kahan is currently in the midst of the final North American leg of his 2023 Stick Season Tour. After a stint of overseas dates in November, he’ll take a break from the road for the remainder of the year. In February, he’ll embark on his extensive We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour, which includes more than 30 dates across the U.S., U.K. and Europe.
