Paramore is teasing their fans with even more music — including some of the “surprising guest” variety.

Last week, the band released an “almost remix” album of their 2023 LP This Is Why, with reworked versions of songs on that record by folks like Remi Wolf, Romy, Wet Leg, Foals, Julien Baker, and more.

As reported by NME, Paramore did indeed confirm that there’s definitely much more to come during an event with writer Amanda Petrusich for The New Yorker Festival. In fact, another remix on the horizon could feature none other than Talking Heads’ David Byrne.

During the panel talk, as reported by Stereogum, Hayley Williams, said, “There was someone that [Petrusich] mentioned who was going to be on this record but we’re saving it for something.” That someone is apparently Byrne, which means a Talkings Heads x Paramore crossover is actually possibly happening in this timeline.

“So, all I’m going to say is it’s fucking insane. It’s incredible. It’s unreal,” she continued. “And hopefully, it won’t be too long before we get to share it. But we decided it was too special and we needed to wait, and there’s more to that story, and you’ll know all about it as soon as we’re able to share.”

The band shared on X about the remix project: “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence.”

Williams opened up in an intimate interview with Rolling Stone about writing and recording This Is Why.

She told the outlet, “People talk about anger and depression being so related because depression is like when you turn your anger inwards. And I think that there’s bits of that anger mixed with bits of this real understanding of how frustrating it can feel to wake up with depression. So by this point, writing This Is Why — having learned about my own experience and looking at it head on — I think that it’s interesting to think of that being a foundational point to the angst and the anxiousness and worry that This Is Why holds.”
