Polo G Detained After His Los Angeles Home Was Raided By Police

In the midst of Polo G rolling out his upcoming fourth studio album, he had a bit of a run-in with the law on Wednesday (August 23). This morning, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the front door of the Chicago rapper’s L.A. mansion with a search warrant.

Reportedly connected to a nearby robbery, LAPD’s search included them asking Polo and everyone else in the house to walk outside, as they were then handcuffed. At first, according to TMZ, Polo’s attorney Bradford Cohen insisted that his client was “not the focus of said investigation.”

“We are hopeful the LAPD will handle this matter with tact and transparency,” Cohen said in a statement.

However, after LAPD failed to uncuff Polo during their hours-long search, Cohen released a subsequent statement where he accused the authorities of misconduct.

“Polo is being held under the guise that the police department needs to double check that he is not a convicted felon as there was a purported firearm found in the home,” Cohen told TMZ. “He is not and never was a convicted felon. Any previous charges he had I got dismissed and it’s all public record. They are also denying myself and my California law partner Zoe Aron access to him while he is being illegally detained.”

Along with updates like these, TMZ revealed that police believe Polo’s brother, who is also a rapper who goes by the name Trench Baby, was involved in the robbery. LAPD conducted the search warrant to see if Polo was harboring Trench Baby, who is currently a fugitive of the law. It is currently unclear if Polo is still in the custody of police.

For most of this year, Polo has been preparing to drop his aforementioned impending solo album, titled Hood Poet set to release on Sept. 15. His first project since his 2021 LP Hall of Fame, Hood Poet’s full track list has yet to be unveiled, although Polo confirmed that promotional singles “Distraction” and “Barely Holdin’ On” will land on the album.
