Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Several Concerts as Josh Homme Remains in “Medical Care”

While formed in Seattle, Washington during the late 1990s, Queens of the Stone Age went through a series of lineup changes over the years. But its founding member, Josh Homme, remained part of the group throughout the growing pains. Releasing eight studio albums during the band’s career, their last, In Times New Roman, released just last year. And while the band looked to perform at several festivals over the summer, it appears Queens of the Stone Age canceled a string of shows as Homme remains under medical care.

Back in June, Queens of the Stone Age announced they were canceling more than a few shows due to Homme having to return to the United States for an “emergency surgery.” Now, the band made another announcement on Twitter about the newly canceled dates. “Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States. The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.” The band also listed the concerts they needed to cancel.

Queens Of The Stone Age Look To Take Over MGM Music Hall

Although hating the idea of the band canceling shows, fans rallied around the group, offering love and support. “Sending you all our best. We know if you could perform you would and we hope you can focus on rest, recovery and feeling well.” Another person added, “Get well soon Josh. So sorry to hear of your struggles and very glad I (surprisingly) got to see you in Fuengirola.”

Besides releasing a statement on social media, a spokesperson for Queens of the Stone Age also discussed the group’s heartbreak of canceling. “Queens are gutted we aren’t able to play for you. We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment.”

Not able to play at festivals like Way Out West, Cabaret Vert in France, and Lowlands in the Netherlands, Queens of the Stone Age look to make their return to the stage in September. Currently helming the End Is Nero tour, the group will perform at the MGM Music Hall in Boston on the 27th.
