2024 marked a big year for Sabrina Carpenter when it came to her career. Not only did she release her Short n’ Sweet album, but she also kicked off her Short n’ Sweet tour. And she even landed a guest performance spot on the hit show Saturday Night Live. If that wasn’t enough, Carpenter caught the eye of Taylor Swift, who invited her on the road for The Eras Tour. Moving into 2025, Carpenter appeared to keep that same history-making energy when she appeared at SNL50 for a special performance alongside Paul Simon.

Through the SNL50 celebration, fans watched as the event featured more than a few performances. There was Post Malone, Nirvana, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Brittany Howard, and even Lil Wayne. And for Carpenter, she received the massive honor of kicking off the show with Simon when they covered “Homeward Bound.”
With the performance already gaining over 230,000 views, fans loved watching the different generations of singers perform. “Made me cry…so sweet. I lost my father on Valentine’s Day and for some reason seeing the two of them sing this together really got to me. So special.” One comment added, “I would love to hear her and other modern artists performing duets like this with artists who may not be around that much longer. She showed him such respect, and they sounded beautiful together. I loved this so much and would love to see so much more of this.” Another fan pointed out what a rare treat this performance was, proclaiming the duet “The most unexpected crossover between artists in the past century.. and I’m here for it!”
Sabrina Carpenter Always Dreamed Of Performing On ‘SNL’
As for Carpenter, she once discussed getting the invitation to perform on SNL for the first time. Speaking with Time, she recalled the emotions that overcame her. “There were so many things I dreamt of doing as a little girl I got to do this year that felt like such a cool, sweet, little bucket-list moment for my younger self. I literally threw up when I found out about SNL. Not to be graphic.”
More than just another performance, Carpenter grew up watching SNL and considered the stage somewhat of a dream goal. “I grew up watching those performances and being like, I want to do that. But then it all just seemed so—not even out of reach, just like I had a different plan in my head of when it was all supposed to happen.”
Eventually finding her way to the stage, Carpenter insisted, “I feel so prepared for these moments.”
