SZA‘s hit song “Kill Bill” doesn’t seem to be slowing down in popularity anytime soon. The hip-hop song, inspired by heartbreak and Quentin Tarantino films, has broken a Billboard record, becoming the first song to hit No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for 21 weeks since its release.
“Kill Bill” was previously tied for the most weeks as Billboard’s No. 1 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Both “Kill Bill” and “Old Town Road” were No. 1 for 20 weeks, until “Kill Bill” nabbed the top spot once again this week.

Other songs that broke records on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart include Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby,” featuring Jack Harlow and Drake’s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla, both topping the chart for 18 weeks. Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” featuring T.I. and Pharrell hit 16 weeks on the chart while Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You” held the top spot for 15 weeks.
“Kill Bill” was once pushed to No. 2 by Lil Durk’s “All My Life,” featuring J. Cole. Since initially hitting No. 1 on December 24, 2022, “Kill Bill” has also been defeated by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Die for You,” as well as Drake’s “Search and Rescue,” but no song has been able to keep “Kill Bill” down for more than a week.
SZA previously revealed to Billboard that she was disappointed that “Kill Bill” was the biggest hit off her sophomore album, SOS, which was released on December 9, 2022. SZA said, “I knew it would be something that pissed me off. It’s always a song that I don’t give a f*** about that’s just super easy, not the shit that I put so much heart and energy into. “Kill Bill” was super easy — one take, one night.”
SOS debuted at No. 1 on Billboards Top 200. The album sold 318,000 albums in four weeks and was streamed over 404 million times.
